Artur Calbucci Warchavchik
I’m a director of photography from São Paulo, Brazil. After receiving my bachelor in communication I went to study Cinema in New York (NYFA) and later in Buenos Aires (UCINE). I’m currently in Barcelona.
In 2016 I started working in the camera and grip departments and later as a Director of Photography.
Before I worked as an Art Director in ad agencies, mainly working with Photoshop and Illustrator. I can also handle Premiere, DaVinci, InDesign and a little of WordPress. I’m a strong media and communication professional with superb organization. Interested in technology, nature, geography and news.
Photography was the first medium that I approached with more intensity. I don’t know exactly when I started photographing, but I remember stealing my dad’s camera when I was a kid. This unpretentious beginning gave me a keen eye and in 2015 I was one of the winners of the Wikipedia's Wiki Loves Earth contest and was one of the best contributors to the Wikipedia archive, with 89 pictures from UNESCO Heritage sites.
In 2014 I received my bachelor in Communication from FAAP in São Paulo. I did internships in Mofilm and Peralta where I worked as social media manager and later as an art direction. After college, I was part of a trainee program in DM9-DDB ad agency and continued working as a freelance in projects of brand identity and design for small companies.
In 2016 I took a filmmaking course in New York Film Academy, where I directed four short films and also worked in a dozen others. After that, I moved to Buenos Aires, where I continued to study Cinema in Universidad del Cine and PuntoCine, focusing in cinematography. After working in several short films, music videos and institutional videos I moved to Barcelona in the end of 2019.
